Seeking qualified candidates to join our critical care team in the surgical/trauma ICU setting. The position is day shift M-F with every 4th weekend clinical coverage and one major and one minor holiday required each year. In addition to clinical activities, this pharmacist would also precept APPE students, PGY1 and PGY2 residents and participate in research and quality improvement activities. 

Baptist Medical Center South is an Adult Level II Trauma Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Primary Stroke Center with Thrombectomy capability. The Critical Care Clinical Pharmacist with this organization must be competent to provide decentralized pharmacy coverage across five adult ICU units including medical, neuro, cardiac, cardiovascular surgery and surgery/trauma. Responsibilities include participating in multidisciplinary rounds, optimizing medication therapy, ensuring safe and effective medication use, and supporting clinical decision-making in high-acuity settings. The pharmacist should be proficient in current practice guidelines and competent in management of pharmacokinetic, parenteral nutrition and anticoagulation consults. Typical daily assignment is one critical care unit with associated step-down floor patients. The pharmacist will assist with daily coverage and participate in every 4th weekend and alternating holiday staffing model. Additional duties include precepting learners (students and PGY1/PGY2 residents), serving on committees, responding to Code Blue emergencies, departmental and provider education, and contributing to research or quality-improvement efforts. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure within 3 months with residency training and board certification preferred.

Education / Experience: Graduate of a school of pharmacy required, PharmD degree preferred (or 2-3 years clinical experience). Completion of PGY1 and PGY2 residency training preferred.

License / Certification: Active RPH required, Alabama Controlled Substance certification required, BLS and ACLS required, Board Certification preferred.
